Feed your first Pigeon!

I know, it can be scary to put yourself out there.

You are a personal trainer, or a nail tech or a lash artist or a Zumba teacher or you are starting as a coach…

It takes a lot of courage already to put yourself out there. — and for that, you should be extremely proud of yourself!

But, there is that tiny little voice in your head (let’s call it ‘the little fucker’) that wants to make you think that you are not ready. And this little fucker keeps bringing up reasons why you shouldn’t even try. And when you manage to break through these doubts, it’s pulling up the big guns:

What if no one comes?
What if no one buys?
What if no one signs up?

Well, then you are just keep going.

There is a very sweet story about an old lady, who was feeding pigeons in a Park in Los Angeles. The lady walked towards the pigeons with the bird food in her hand… and the pigeons were walking away from her.

However, when she walked away with the food in her hand, the pigeons followed her. (I mean… They are birds, but they are not stupid. She has the food.)

So the lady showed the food in her open palm and she started to walk towards the pigeons. The birds started to walk away from her again.

She turned and walked away from them again; and birds were started to follow her. Again.

It looked kind of like a dance. The dance of trust. And every single time the distance between the old lady and the pigeons was getting smaller.

At one point, after about 10 minutes of their dance, she sat down and opened her palm. Only one very brave pigeon started to slowly get closer to her… Probably the daredevil from the crowd.
And he picked up ONE piece of the bird food. Then one more. And another one. The trust was built.

And then another pigeon came… And another one… (for some people, this scenario is a nightmare, but) The old lady became THE PIGEON LADY.

This is exactly how your first sale is going to go.

Your first sale is going to take the most time and effort.
That’s when you are building up trust, just like the pigeon lady.

And the more people trust you, the more people will come.
The second sale is going to be a little bit easier.
The more you do it, the easier it gets.

When I booked a conference room in a hotel for the very first time for FROM NADA TO PRADA, it was a big fail…

I have rented the conference room, I have asked a friend to come and set up the projector, handle the sound system and everything…

It was 10am. I had my 2 friends and my sister in the room.
NO ONE SHOWED UP.

I asked them if they wouldn’t mind if I go ahead and at least practice… I’ll go through the content and then we can go and have a late lunch and some drinks together to celebrate my big fail.

So I started and a little bit after 11am ONE GUEST ARRIVED.

I was shocked, I was surprised and I didn’t know what to do. So I kept going.

Realistically: I rented a conference room and held a one day FROM NADA TO PRADA training FOR ONE PERSON.

But here is the thing: SHE SIGNED UP FOR MY ONLINE TRAINING TOO.
What does that mean?

It means, that I had 100% conversion rate.

From all the people who attended to my one-day training, 100% signed up for the Online Training.

For the negative mindset people: yes, it’s only one person.
But is it 100% or not? So shut up! LOL

At the moment, I have 42 students/members/people/friends/amazing humans in From Nada To Prada.

Don’t give up. Feed your first Pigeon. Even if it takes a lot of time. Even if it takes a lot of effort. Build that trust.
And the rest will come.
